Project Lead The Way

Belton School District has 8 engineering related PLTW courses including: Intro to Engineering Design (IED), Princples Of Engineering (POE), Digital Electronics (DE), Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSE), Engineering Developement and Design (EDD), Gateway to Technology (GTT), Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM), and Manufacturing Techician Certificate (MT1).

IED

Introduction to Engineering Design is a course offered to 9-12 graders. In this PLTW course students learn about design process, research and analysis, teamwork, communication methods, global and human impacts, engineering standards, and technical documentation.

CSE

Computer Science and Software Engineering is a full year course. This course is benificial for any person wanting to gain more knowledge about computers. It teaches students computational thinking skills and will prepare them for future career opportunities.

CIM

Computer Integrated Manufacturing is a new course. It is about manufactured items are part of everything life. The course illuminates the oppportinites related to understanding manufacturing. This teaches about the process, product desgin, robotics, and automation.

POE

Principles of Engineering is a PLTW course that prepares students for a postsecondary course of study. POE is a project and problem solving based curriculum that teaches students to be creative and use what they learned prior to this course to solve a given problem.

EDD

Engineering Developement and Design is a more independent course where students find a real world problem and use what they learned in their prerequisite classes (IED and POE) to solve said problem within a small group of 2-4 peers.

MT1

Manufacturing Technician Certificate Program is a new course. This training program addresses the core techcial competencies for skilled production occupations. The training includes safety, quality practices, manufacturing process, electrical and mechanical basics and awareness. With this certicate, this demonstrates that you understand of modern manufacturing.

DE

Digital Electronics is a PLTW course that is created for those who are interested in pursuing a career in electronics. In this course students take one step at a time to learn about terminology, communication methods, engineering standards, analog/digital circuits, soldering, troubleshooting techniques, combination logic, sequential logic, process and control experiments, and microcontrollers.

GTT

Gateway to Technology provides an engineering curriculum for middle school students. Students learn how to problem solve and develop life-long skills such as: communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, and creativity.
